when "main" RPi is down, the 2.2.2.2 jumps as main DNS, but IoT devices still search for the 1.1.1.1 - they can't be set to look for one or another broker, they have just one address to connect to.IoT devices have 1.1.1.1 configured as MQTT broker's address.the troubles begin with the MQTT broker config: yes, my router has an option to configure two DNS adresses (first one as main, second as fallback).yes, the plan is to make two identical (almost) configurations. Is it something I can do with Adguard Home installation or there's no way to achieve it in the way I described?Įnglish is not my first language, and seeing your comment I'm starting to think, that I wrote something wrong, because basically you've just repeated what I (wanted to) wrote ) Now here's something I wonder if it could be done: can I somehow prepare the "clone" config, to catch all the "main" addressed queries and redirect them to "clone"? so if my "main" RPi is down for maintenance, and some IoT device asks for MQTT broker (meaning: it tries to connect with "main" IP), the "cloned" RPi tells it to "stay here" and then IoT device connects with "cloned" RPi's IP & connects to secondary MQTT broker which is also here. I also have spare RPi (let's call it *clone*), which I'm using sometimes for testing and other "projects for few minutes", so it's not always occupied with something - I just got an idea, that I'll prepare one sdcard with the almost identical configuration as my Adguard's RPi I'll set up my router to use two DNS servers (first = "main Rpi", second = "cloned RPi"), so if one is down, the another will be used. it's also a MQTT broker & it serves as my garage door sensor, for home automation.įrom time to time, I'm making some maintenance with that RPi and this is causing my network going down - because of no other DNS given, and also part of my smarthome goes dark, because MQTT is then off. Ok, so I have my RPi (let's call it *main*) set up as Adguard Home device.
